The vast majority of us would love to live somewhere other than where we are currently living- especially if you're living in a one bedroom apartment! However, due to financial obligations or other restrictions, you may not have a choice in the matter right now. This is why you have to learn how to love where you live.

There are a number of ways to love where you live- the number one thing being creating a space that is livable. What do I mean by this? Creating a livable space first means being organized. No one would want to come home to a messy home or apartment. This is especially true if the space that you occupy is small. It is incredibly important, therefore, to figure out ways to make things neat. There are a variety of storing options. For example, if your home lacks storage, get creative! The first place that a lot of people start with is under the bed. You can purchase bed raises at stores such as Bed Bath and Beyond for around $10. Simply put each of the bed raises underneath the four corners of your bed to give your bed some additional height. After this, you can purchase some cheap plastic containers to store items in and then stack and/or slide them underneath your bed.

There are also a number of do-it-yourself organizers that you can make for under your sinks or in cabinets. For example, my grandmother made me these decorative boxes that I currently use to store toiletries and other items in in my bathroom. You wouldn't believe how much neater things look when they are divided up into boxes.

Regardless of whether or not you work from home, file folders are also a must-have. When I was in college, I had a file folder for each semester to help me organize papers and research. When I started working, I began to use file folders to help me file bills, health information and 401k information. Whenever I need to access information, it is incredibly easy for me to find where everything is because it is labeled and filed for easy access- no digging through a box of mixed up papers!

Another great thing to have to help you love where you live is a paper shredder. It is sad that we would need paper shredders, but they serve a great purpose. With so much identity theft, you never know who is nosing through your garbage, etc. Paper shredders are great for discarding personal information such as old bills or other paperwork that might have personal information on it such as lab results or items with your social security or billing information.

Lastly, don't forget that where you live has a lot to do with how you decorate it. Sometimes a simple coat of paint can go a long way to create a warmer living space or give the illusion of having more space. Play around with furniture as well as design layout to help you achieve an effect that you will be pleased with!
